Literary Reading Series is Back Again!

Did you enjoy the Literary Reading Series last semester?

Or you haven’t heard of it?

Don’t miss it this spring semester!

Each semester, distinguished poets, writers and translators from around the world take part in the Literary Reading Series at NYU Shanghai. All the featured books are displayed in the Library’s Spotlight section.

Robin Hemley, for example, will be the first guest speaker to present this semester. His popular craft book, Turning Life into Fiction, has sold over 80,000 copies.

We will also have Tse Hao Guang, the author of Deeds of Light (2015), which shortlisted for the Singapore Literature Prize 2016, and Daryl Lim Wei Jie, a poet and critic. His work won him the Golden Point Award in English Poetry in 2015.

If you are interested in reading any of the 2018 Spring Literary Reading Series books that have been or will be presented on campus by authors, you can easily find their works in the Spotlight section. Feel free to browse and check out! Remember, you can keep the books up to two weeks and renew once.

Mango the App…Not the Fruit

Tired of sitting in class and being pressured into learning another language? Well, Mango language Learning makes learning another language fun and enjoyable.

Although mango is a delicious fruit, it is also a very useful app for language learners in this generation. Now languages can be learned on the go. It contains over 60 languages and allows users to select specific lessons to fit their circumstance, which makes it convenient and time efficient.

Already use Mango? You should be happy to know that the new and improved mango has a new, sleek layout and it takes language learning to a whole new level.

How to access Mango?

1.Go to NYUSH library main page. Click on “Articles & Databases” tab

2.Under Subject-Specific, locate “linguistics”

3.Find “Mango Language Learning” in the “M” section

4.Sign up

It’s that easy. Plus, this app is easily accessible on laptops, tablets, and mobiles.

Interested in Interactive Media Arts, 3D animation, or the digital world in general?

Well, we are happy to let you know that the library now has the “3D Artist” subscription magazine that will allow you explore these topics.

And even if you are not interested in these topics, feel free to take a look. You might find yourself having a crush on the animated world.

This magazine covers topics concerning 3D texture, visual illusions, and details the techniques used to create popular animations such as Dumbledore.

Like what you hear? Then stop by and take a look. Remember that this magazine is part of our periodical collection, so it is unable to be checked out, but you are able to read this book in the library’s lovely common space.

If this thought has run through your head before, then act fast and book your very own library study room.

The study rooms can host four to eight people, and it offers a whiteboard for brainstorming and discussion.

Remember these rooms can only be booked up to 2 hours so make sure to keep track of time and be respectful of others who may have booked the same room for the next hours.

Plan ahead. You can book up to 7 days in advance.

Finally, after you are done with the study room, please remember to clean up the messes you made so others are able to enjoy the same space.

A good news for couch potatos

Need a way to de-stress after all these midterms? If so, come to NYU Shanghai’s Library and check out a DVD.

Our DVD collection contains a large variety of entertainment. It ranges from superheroes to historical films. This collection offers something for everyone. If you are interested, please feel free to stop by and check out your very own DVD, but make sure to return it within 7 days. If you need more time, you are allowed to renew it once.

So, give yourself a break from school and stop by to find a DVD.
